Lithuania, though relatively small when compared with other nations, is the largest and most populated of the three Baltic States. The country's history was first recorded over 1,000 years ago, and in 2009, Lithuania will celebrate the millenium of its name. Lying between the Baltic Sea and Belarus, the EU nation has seen excellent economic growth as a "Baltic Tiger" throughout the 1990s and 2000. Image courtesy of the CIA World Factbook. |
